A Happy New Year to all our Parents and Carers from the staff and pupils here at Loirston. We do hope that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and welcome you all back at the start of this new term. As usual this bulletin aims to keep you informed of the work ongoing here at Loirston and we do hope that you find it useful
Parent Appointments
You should now have your appointment times for our Parents Evening next week. The purpose of the meeting will be for staff to meet with you to discuss your child’s strengths and identify next steps in their learning. Should you have any difficulties with timings of appointments please do not hesitate to contact the office.
Staffing Update
Mrs Forrest – As you know she is due to go on maternity leave next month. We are currently in the recruitment process for this job. In the interim we would like to assure you that responsibility for this class will be taken by the Senior Management Team led by myself as Head Teacher.
Ms Matthews – We are still in the recruitment process with regard to this post. The post is currently waiting to be re advertised and we will keep you up to date as we continue with the recruitment process.
Weather
As you are aware we are now in the term of the weather being much colder. With this in mind we would like to remind all that pupils should come to school with appropriate clothing. We do try to ensure our pupils get outside at playtime and lunchtime when it is dry yet cold. Therefore we would much appreciate it if all children could come to school with a suitable jacket. As usual it is really helpful if this has a name on it too!
Information Line
At this time of year we are also considering future days of adverse weather. With this in mind we wanted to let you know that should there be any difficulties with regard to snow etc.the decision will be taken with regard to opening times etc as early as possible. Following this we will endeavour to Groupcall you all as soon as possible SO PLEASE ENSURE THAT WE HAVE AN UP TO DATE MOBILE NUMBER FOR YOU . Fundrasing last term
A huge thank you for all your support last term with regard to all our fundraising activities. We really do appreciate it. Instant Neighbour were delighted with the response of food items. With regards to other charities the following amounts were raised:
Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day – £336.65
Coats for Kids/Northsound Charity – £542.40
Parent Council Christmas Fayre – £1647 for School Fund
Parent Council Christmas card design – £521.62 for School Fund.
