3.         MEMBERS OF STAFF

            MAGGI MCPHEE (Excursion Leader)

            MOIRA SMITHERS (Class Teacher)

            DOREEN NELSON (Pupil Support Assistant)

4.                  TRAVEL

Tuesday 6th May

08.20 - 08.30   -           Arrive and register.

After registering, give medication to Mrs. McPhee.

Give pocket money to Mrs. Smithers

            08.40               -           Depart Loirston

            11.00               -           Arrive Dunolly House

Dunolly House will provide lunch.  A packed lunch box and container for juice should be taken for use during the rest of the week.  The container for juice should be plastic and of a reasonable size.  It would be helpful for staff and pupils if both packed lunch box and container for juice have pupil’s name on it.

Pupils who suffer from travel sickness should take any preventative tablets prior to coming to school and have with them a supply for the return journey.

5.         Medication

On the day of departure give any mixtures, tablets, extra inhalers to Mrs. McPhee in a small bag clearly labelledAll medication should be individually named.  Pupils who require an asthma inhaler should carry it with them on the bus, as well as providing a “spare” to Loirston staff.

6.            Personal Belongings

All personal items should be CLEARLY NAMED.  This includes larger items of clothing.  All belongings will be the responsibility of the pupil.  Items of value should either not be taken or the pupil is able to act responsibly in the care of these items.  Children bringing cameras should ensure they are clearly named – ideally a disposable camera would be better in case they get lost or wet.  In addition to a large rucksack or suitcase for transporting belongings to Dunolly, a smaller day bag which can be carried on the shoulders should also be taken for day visits – some schoolbags are suitable for this.

7.         Clothing

Please do not take anything that will be catastrophic if damaged.  Having visited the house, slippers are required for indoor wear.  It is helpful if towels are named.  Don’t forget the swimsuit.  Attached is a kit list.

8.         Pocket Money

A maximum of £20.  It is necessary for any pocket money to be in £1 notes/coins and kept in a purse/wallet or tin which is clearly named.  This should be given to Mrs. Smithers on the day of departure and will be issued as appropriate.

9.           Contact

Please do not expect your child to telephone.  There is only one telephone at Dunolly and organising this would be difficult.  In case of an emergency you will be contacted or a message could be relayed to us through school.  No mobile ‘phones are to be taken.  A large focus of the week is to experience time away from home – the visit is an important part of Personal & Social Education.  Dunolly House also blocked the use of portable games consoles in bedrooms – these will be confiscated if used in the house.  Loirston School will endorse this, and they should not be taken.

10.        Discipline

The above named staff are responsible for the pupils’ behaviour while on the visit.  The highest standards are expected from Loirston pupils as they are representing school at Dunolly.

Should a pupil break the code of conduct as outlined by the staff at Dunolly House to pupils on arrival, put themselves or another pupil in danger through inappropriate behaviour, a telephone call will be made requesting the parent to come to take the pupil home.

11.        Return

On Friday 9th, pupils will arrive back at school between 3.00 – 3.30 p.m.  Please make arrangements to pick up your child at this time.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
