To Parents of P4 Pupils

Dear Parents,

RECORDER TUITION FOR P4 PUPILS

Part of the 5-14 Guidelines for music, issued by the Scottish Office, states that at Level B it is appropriate to learn a musical instrument and Mrs. Brockley, music specialist, undertakes to teach recorder to all our P4 and P5 pupils.

As a result of this we ask parents to support this part of the curriculum by providing their child with a recorder.  These cost between £6 and £12 in shops but, by buying in bulk, school can buy them and sell to you for £5.

Some children may already have a recorder at home and Mrs. Brockley will be pleased to advise whether or not it is suitable.

Children will be asked to do some practising at home – a few minutes at a time, two or three times a week.

The majority of children enjoy this experience and they will have the opportunity to continue in a recorder group in future years.

Please complete and return the attached slip by 21^st January 2008.

This is a safe and secure online environment where children can learn how to use the internet in a fun and safe way.The clubs are mediated at all times by a professional mediator and the use of the site, by Loirston pupils, is monitored by myself.  Members are all Primary School age children. Superclubs offer a wide variety of clubs and interest groups. More information is available at http://www.superclubsplus.com/i/parents .

Children also have access to www.gridclub.com  a Website comprising interactive resources relating to Scottish National Guidelines at Levels A - E. This is accessed using a separate username and password:username-loi887password-ab123he
Pupils can access both the clubs and games websites from home and school.  I offer a club for those children who do not have access to the internet at home, on a Wednesday from 3.15 to 4.30pm. If you wish your child to attend the club, please let me know by letter. S.Campbell-MorganICT co-ordinator
