Dear Parents of pupils in Primaries 1 – 4,
A theatre group (Booster Cushion Theatre) is visiting school on Friday 12th September. The focus for pupils is to see through drama how a book is brought to life and built up using various characters as starting points. The idea is to encourage pupils to develop their own imaginative ideas.
The company will perform a piece called ‘Big Book Tall Tales’. We are asking pupils to contribute £1.00 towards the cost.
Please complete the reply slip and return it to school before Tuesday 9th September.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
M. S. MCPHEE
Depute Head Teacher

I enclose £1.00 for the drama production Friday 12th September.

19th August 2008
Dear Parent/Carer,
You may have heard recent reports of proposed strike action which may affect schools. The date of the anticipated strike action is tomorrow, Wednesday 20th August.
Following a careful risk assessment, and taking everything into consideration, I have decided that the school will be closed to all pupils on Wednesday 20th August 2008. As you can appreciate this has not been an easy decision to make. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Those children who were coming for their Primary 1 visit on Wednesday afternoon will now just start, as planned, on Thursday morning. They will not have a visit. The planned meeting with Mrs Pert for the parents of these children will now take place on Friday morning from 9.30 – 10.15 a.m.
Yours sincerely,
Louise McIntosh
Head Teacher

Loirston School Newsletter June 2008
Staffing Update
As you know Mrs Thom has resigned her post as Head Teacher here at Loirston School and Aberdeen City Council has begun the process of recruiting a new head teacher. The post will not be advertised until the start of the new school session. Previous experience has shown that limited interest is shown in posts advertised over the summer school holidays. Ms L. McIntosh, currently head teacher at St Machar Primary School will assume the role of Acting Head Teacher at the start of the school session and will remain in post until the new Head Teacher is appointed.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone involved at Loirston School for making me feel welcome throughout my time here. I have been impressed with the hard work of staff and pupils at the school and wish you all success in the new school year.
Mrs Henley and Ms Aitken will be leaving Loirston School at the end of this term to take up new posts in other schools. I am sure you will join with me in thanking them for their hard work, dedication and commitment and to wish them all success in their new posts.

Dear Parents,
Nursery Trips
Due to the bad weather forecast over the next couple of days, the Morning and Afternoon Nursery Trips will have to be cancelled.
This means that Nursery will continue as normal on Thursday and Friday with the morning children attending on Thursday and Friday morning and the afternoon children attending on Thursday and Friday afternoon.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and we are sure everybody will be really disappointed.
