Loirston School World Book Day 2017

Dear Parents /Carers

As part of our drive to maintain, promote and engage pupil interest in reading, the school is celebrating WORLD BOOK day on Friday 3rd March.

During this week the children will be participating in lots of exciting activities as a school and within their own classes..

  • The Book Fair will be at school during this time (class timetables have been issued).

Children will be issued with World book day £1 vouchers that can be used on all books at the fair or at any other participating bookshops.

  • On this special day, your child can come to school dressed as a favourite character from any book (but please do not go to any great expense). To give the children ideas of who to dress up as it would be good to discuss with your child different characters from their favourite books. Again, the dressing up possibilities are endless: Postman Pat, Oliver Twist, Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Danny- Champion of the World, Matilda, Goldilocks, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Twits, Cinderella, Gruffalo, Elmer the Elephant, Three little Pigs, Harry Potter etc… Reading different books every evening, in preparation would be great! So get thinking and reading!

  • Classes will participate in a variety of challenges related to the World Book Day themes of Create, Imagine, Explore, Discover and Experience.

I look forward to seeing the children dressed up and I am sure that they will have an exciting reading experience.

  1. Is this not the same day as P1 and P2 Satrosphere trip, for which they will be out of school most of the day and also have to wear school uniform for?

  2. I believe this has now been changed so it doesn’t clash with the trip. Thanks for checking. Miss Anderson
