Traffic Access During the School Day.

I am writing with regard to the health and safety of our children and our concerns regarding traffic access during our school day. We would like to remind parents and carers that –

• No cars/other vehicles except for school buses or taxis are permitted to enter the turning point at the front of the school between 8.30am – 9.15am and 2.45 – 3.30pm. During these times the turning point is a no parking/waiting area. This is clearly displayed on the signage at the front of the school.

• Parents/Carers please note that there are no parking or turning spaces allocated to the school site for picking up/dropping off their children.

• Parents / Carers should not park in the staff car park, again clearly marked. Children dropped off in the staff car park must then navigate a number of cars both stationery and mobile. We have also had instances where parents/carers cars are blocked in and you will appreciate that staff cannot leave a class full of children in order to move cars.

• No cars should be parked on the crossing directly outside the main entrance to the school. This should be treated in exactly the same way as any other crossing on the highway.

• Cars must not be parked on the yellow lines or zigzag “School Keep Clear” markings. These markings are there in order to keep sight lines clear for pedestrians and other motorists.

• Please consider whether you really need to use your car to make the journey to school at all. Not only is walking a healthier option and better for the environment, but it also helps alleviate some of the problems we are currently facing. If however you do need to drive please be considerate to others and ensure that you follow the parking rules for collection and drop off.

Whilst we acknowledge that these arrangements may cause a degree of inconvenience, they are made to help us ensure the safety of our school pupils whilst they are on school grounds which is of paramount importance. We thank you for your continued support in this matter. It is our collective responsibility to maintain a safe journey to and from school for everyone.
