Dear Parents/Carers

It is hard to believe we are already into April and approaching Easter at speed.  It has been a very busy term and we have all been working very hard.  The dark early mornings are beginning to disappear and it is nice to see some brighter weather appearing.  We have been really fortunate to have had a “Snow Free” term.

Dates for Your Diary

Reports

Staff have just completed writing their yearly reports to go home at the end of term.  The purpose of the report is to give you an overall picture of your child’s progress across this session.  This year the report will be the same format as last year.  We hope you find the information provided useful and welcome your comments on the feedback sheet attached.  Should you have any queries regarding the report please do not hesitate to contact the school to arrange to see the class teacher following the Easter break.

Reminders

As you may have noticed the wardens have been operating in the Cove area addressing concerns they have about appropriate parking. Unfortunately the school was also subject to an article recently in the Evening Express.

It is important that we all consider other road users when finding a place to park to drop off children at school.  I have been asked by the local Police Service  to remind all Parents/Carers that it is a road traffic offence to obstruct the road for other users and a fixed penalty can be issued.  The wardens will be carrying out regular checks in the area over the coming term to ensure this is not an ongoing problem.  Can I also remind parents that the staff car park should not be used to drop off and pick up children.  I would also like to note that the turning point is not meant for parking. The signs clearly state no parking between 8.30 and 9.15am and 2.45 – 3.30pm.  We regularly have buses booked for classes to go out of school and the bus needs to be able to park and leave at the appropriate times. Many thanks in advance for your co-operation.

I have also had a small number of parents noting that when they call the school they appear to be getting the answer machine and do not want to leave a message regarding reasons for absence etc.  Please be assured that Maureen checks the message service many times during the school day. You will appreciate that Maureen is very busy and often has to leave the office with messages etc. Therefore if you do have information you want to give us or would like a ring back please leave a message and we will of course get back to you.

Please can we also make sure that we don’t have dogs on school grounds in accordance with ACC policy.

Finally should your child be late for school, please drop them off at reception.  Due to safety we cannot allow parents to walk through the school.  Thank you for your understanding.

Sainsbury Vouchers

Many thanks for all the vouchers we have already received.  We are still collecting and really appreciate your support.

Easter Family Bingo

On Tuesday 22nd April we will be having our annual Easter Family Bingo evening organized by our Parent Council.  We would welcome all to come along and enjoy some games and maybe even win a chocolate or two! Doors open at 6.30 pm.  We look forward to seeing you there!

On behalf of all the staff and pupils here at Loirston I would like to wish you all a lovely Easter break, I hope you all enjoy your holiday and look forward to welcoming you back in two weeks.  Thank you for all your continued support here at school we all really do appreciate it.

Happy Easter!
