Aberdeen City Council are now producing  quarterly Neighbourhood Bulletins.

If you live or work on the Cove or Altens area it is hoped that you will find something of interest in the bulletin. Whether you are looking for information on local services, want to know about how local projects are progressing or want to know what’s happening elsewhere that might be of interest, this quarterly Bulletin aims to keep everyone informed.

Nursery Trip to Satrosphere

Posted by loirstonconnect on 9th September 2009

Our morning Nursery Classes will be going to Satrosphere Science Centre on Wednesday 23rd September to attend a “Science Day” which has been specifically tailored for the 3 – 5 age group. This should prove both informative and entertaining for the children.

They will leave at 9.15 am, (so please have your child at nursery by 9.00 am), and travel by coach to Satrosphere and return to nursery at approximately 11.30 am.

A snack, which will be eaten at Satrosphere, will be provided by Nursery staff.

This trip is being funded by Satrophere and Aberdeen City Council therefore we are not asking for a contribution towards the trip.

We are looking for adult helpers for the trip so if you are available please indicate this on tear off portion of the permission slip which will be given to the children.

Insurance position for pupils – Parents should be aware of details contained in the School Information Booklet which states that pupils are not covered by Council insurance for injury, damage to property or personal loss unless negligence can be proved.  If parents wish to take out personal cover for their children at very reasonable cost (which covers them for 24 hours of every day in the year) they can contact the Headteacher who has information available.

Proposed Strike action by First Bus

Posted by loirstonconnect on 2nd September 2009

Members of Unite, the union, have scheduled a series of strike action that will disrupt First Aberdeen bus services over the next 4 weeks.

Strikes are planned for the following dates and times:

Tuesday 8th September  0700 hours to 0900 hours

Wednesday 9th September 1600 hours to 1800 hours

Thursday 10th September 0700 hours to 0900 hours

Thursday 10th September 1600 hours to 1800 hours

Tuesday 15th September 1600 hours to 1800 hours

Thursday 17th September 1600 hours to 1800 hours

Tuesday 22nd September 1600 hours to 1800 hours

Thursday 24th September 1600 hours to 1800 hours

Tuesday 29th September 1600 hours to 1800 hours

Thursday 1st October  1600 hours to 1800 hours

Previous strikes suggest that bus services will wind down around 1hour before the strike commences and are not likely to get back to normal until one hour afterwards.

If your child/children normally travel to and from school using First Bus services, please make alternative arrangements to ensure they get to and from school safely on the days strike action is planned.

Schools will not close early due to the bus strikes and absences will not be authorised.  If your child/children depend on public transport and you cannot make other transport plans, please contact the school to make arrangements for them to be dismissed from class earlier to allow them to catch a bus home before the strike takes effect, or to inform the school of their late arrival if effected by the strikes scheduled to take place in the morning.

Pupils will not be dismissed from class early without parents making prior arrangement with the school.  If you normally collect your children from school, you should continue to do so.

The situation may change at short notice so please check local press/radio or First Aberdeen website for update to date information about the bus strike.  Information will also be available on the Aberdeen City Council website.
