It’s Sainsbury’s Active Kids time!
I am pleased to tell you that we are taking part in Sainsbury’s Active Kids again this year. This represents an excellent opportunity for us to acquire extra equipment and experiences that we may not usually be able to provide.
Last year, you helped us to collect a fantastic 11,897 Active Kids vouchers (AKVs) which meant that we could choose some brilliant things from the Sainsbury’s Active Kids catalogue.
In fact Sainsbury’s Active Kids has donated an amazing £70 million of equipment and experiences for young people across the UK since 2005.
A brief re-cap of how Sainsbury’s Active Kids works.
From 11th February to 3rd June, you will receive one Sainsbury’s AKV for every £10 you spend at any main Sainsbury’s store or every £5 you spend in Sainsbury’s Locals or Centrals. You can also earn AKVs at Sainsbury’s petrol stations and when you shop online at sainsburys.co.uk.
You can also choose to convert your Nectar points into AKVs by visiting nectar.com (please select the right option from the drop down menu and follow the on-screen instructions).
Please help us make this year even better! Active Kids enables us to claim lots of excellent things – at no extra cost to us. This year, we’ve got our eye on more things that’ll be invaluable to us!
You will find the box for the vouchers at the front of the school.

COMIC RELIEF – RED NOSE DAY
|
|
|
| |
|
You may or may not be aware that throughout the school year we get many requests to support a great variety of charities. It is clearly not possible to help them all. Decisions are made at the beginning of the school year about what our involvement will be. Consideration is given to the timing of different appeals and this is one of the criteria for supporting Comic Relief and in particular RED NOSE DAY. We also use the materials produced by the charity to fit in with our delivery of the Citizenship and Personal and social Education areas.
This year Red Nose Day is on Friday 13th March. We (John the Janitor) will be selling red noses on Monday 9th March in the hall from 9.00am. 420 noses have been ordered and will be sold at £1.00 each. This will happen again on each day of the week until all noses have been sold.
We are inviting pupils to take part in the Red Nose Day theme –
DO SOMETHING FUNNY FOR MONEY
Instead of wearing school uniform, pay £1.00 and come to school wearing clothes that make you and everyone around you happy! It could be hair, clothes, face, socks or ALL of these and MORE!!! It’s up to you and your child/ren change the way you look and the donation will be used to spread laughter to others in this country and in Africa.
It may be that individual classes want to organise additional fund-raising activities on the day – we will see what happens.
Hope you can help to make Friday 13th March a laughter filled day and to contribute towards a big total for Comic Relief.

You will probably have been aware that Mrs Ritchie has been taking P1B full time since the Christmas holidays and you may have wondered what has happened to Mrs Senior.
Happily she is expecting not one, or two but three babies!! As you can imagine, this is physically putting rather a strain on Mrs Senior. She has taken medical advice and gone on extended sick leave until she begins her maternity leave.
We know that the children will miss her and that you will wish her all the best for the impending rather large addition to her family.
We all look forward to seeing the triplets once they are here and I am sure that Mrs Senior will try to make every effort (with an army of helpers) to visit the children in P1B.
In the meantime Mrs Ritchie has full responsibility for P1B. The children are already used to Mrs Ritchie taking the class and have easily adapted to the change in circumstances.
If you have any queries regarding this please do not hesitate to get in touch.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER
The school photographer will be here on Tuesday 10th February.
This time round it will be class photographs and we ask that pupils make an extra special effort to wear uniform on that day.
You may wish to ensure that your child has a comb/brush with them, as not all classes will be photographed first thing in the morning.
